Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau, The Bahamas, was the location for our triage course on June 21/22, 2005 with more than 120 nurses, physicians, and pre-hospital staff participating. Shelley took a tour of their Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) which sees just under 50,000 patients per year. "As soon as I walked in I was so impressed by how professional everyone looked-no sneakers or tennis shoes here. Everyone wore professional and comfortable white shoes that you knew were not also being worn to mow the lawn! We have so much to learn from one another about how we can improve the perception we leave with patients and their families. The A&E staff demonstrated the importance of presenting ourselves professionally. What an impact wearing white uniforms has!" - Shelley Cohen, RN
